Empowering individuals through safe, adaptive horsemanship and meaningful connection with horses.
Our program offers lessons for individuals ages 5 and up with physical, cognitive, or emotional challenges. Led by certified professionals, sessions focus on building confidence, connection, and personal growth—on the ground and in the saddle.
Spaces are limited.
Program Focus
Individualized lesson plans to build confidence, coordination, and connection.
Beginner to intermediate Western Riding, Walk/Trot
Haltering, grooming, tacking, leading, horse care skills
Designed for Individuals with
Autism, ADHD, anxiety, depression, PTSD
TBI or mild cerebral palsy
Sensory integration challenges
Requirements
Adults and youth (age 5+) who can follow basic verbal instructions
Need minimal assistance for mounting horse
Completed paperwork incl. rider info, medical history, physician’s release
Weight limit 160lbs
Rates / Payments
$55 for 60 min session / $30 intake fee / $525 total
$45 for 30 min session / $30 intake fee / $435 total
$300 advance payment (cash, check, card accepted) to secure your spot.
Approved LEARNS ACT vendor.
CANCELLATIONS: 24hrs in advance | unexcused absences/no shows will be billed. STRC may cancel sessions due to unsafe weather conditions.

Kathryn Speights
Certified therapeutic riding instructor through PATH International and a competitive barrel racer. She combines her passion for horses with a commitment to helping others by teaching riding lessons for children with physical and mental disabilities. Outside the arena, Kathryn works as a certified nurse anesthetist in Hot Springs and lives in Arkadelphia.

Katja Summerlin
Founder and executive director of STRC. Born and raised in Zurich, Switzerland, she holds a degree in Business Administration and is a certified Equine Assisted Learning facilitator with over 30 years of experience with horses. This fall, Katja is stepping into a new role as a therapeutic riding instructor, working alongside CTRI Kathryn Speights, with the goal of earning her PATH Intl. certification.
